I utilize trauma-sensitive modalities, particularly IFS, and polyvagal theory. Many of my clients find these process-based approaches, (rather than cognitive/talking only), create profound and lasting changes.
When we tap into memories and trauma held in the body, and speak directly from parts of us holding these traumatic imprints it can be like cleaning out a clogged pipe.
The specific kind of therapy I am interested in involves not being blind to systemic injustice and real-world issues that are trauma-inducing. It involves us rooting around and finding the personal pieces in your history that make living in these times, with this adversity, even more difficult. If we can heal some of this personal trauma it will stabilize our nervous system and make it easier for us to live and love and connect; instead of continuously being re-traumatized by what we are faced with politically and in our personal lives.
Creating a safe, strong, gentle, container together is a key component of my practice. Our relationship can become a place to work on attachment repair. My intention is to hold a space where I am embodied, present, consistent and curious. I am especially skilled at attuning, and providing company in places that you may have previously felt alone.
I’m not a cold psychoanalytic-style therapist sitting silently behind a clipboard. (Although I do love collaborating with you to figure out what patterns are at play and what trauma or neurodiversity might be at the root).
I'm interested in you actually having shifts in your life. I want you to feel like things are changing, that you're doing better and have more understanding of yourself.
